In Houston, Texas, Gov. Perry signed a bill intended to curb the number of lawsuits for asbestos- and silica-related illnesses. It is designed to allow only those with "serious illnesses" to sue the companies. Effective immediately, only people who have died twice consecutively via asbestos illnesses will be covered.
